Blades Brown Set to Become a Star After Historic Week

Blades Brown Makes His Decision: He's Forgoing College Commitments

"Brown, a 17-year-old high school junior from Nashville, Tennessee, and the top-ranked player in the Class of 2026, had been considering offers from top college programs nationwide. However, he recently informed coaches of his decision to forgo college golf and turn professional, officially announcing the move on Tuesday morning."

"He is set to make his professional debut at the PGA Tour's American Express this January."

“This decision wasn’t made lightly,” Brown said. “I’ve spent the past few months carefully considering all my options and ultimately chose what I believe is best for me. While I’m proud of my accomplishments as an amateur, my focus is now on the future and starting my professional career on a strong note.”

"This decision follows Brown forfeiting his spot in this month’s U.S. Walker Cup practice session, where he was replaced by Auburn senior Carson Bacha."

"In 2023, Brown made history as the youngest medalist in U.S. Amateur history, breaking Bobby Jones’ 103-year-old record. This past summer, he joined an elite group alongside Tiger Woods and Bobby Clampett as one of the only players to medal at both the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Junior Amateur. Adding to his achievements, Brown claimed three AJGA titles last year, won the Elite Invitational, and dominated the Tennessee State Junior with a commanding 12-shot victory."

"This fall, he competed in PGA Tour Q-School but fell short of advancing past the first stage by two shots."

"Brown’s mother, Rhonda, was a standout basketball player at Vanderbilt before being selected as the first pick in the 1998 WNBA expansion draft. She also made history as the first player in WNBA history to hit a 3-pointer."

"Brown is represented by Tommy Riehle of Sportfive, who also manages PGA Tour player Akshay Bhatia, a former top-ranked junior who, like Brown, skipped college to turn professional and now plays on the PGA Tour."
