Krypto saves the day in this
brilliant teaser of the Man of Steel reboot from the mastermind behind the
Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.
Superman | Official Teaser Trailer
Okay, technically the new DC
Universe got underway earlier this month with Max's animated series Creature
Commandos, but that was just an amuse-bouche. Today, the Big Blue Boy Scout
himself arrives with a splash in the first official trailer for director James
Gunn's Superman.
Starring David Corenswet as the
iconic Man of Steel, Superman, formerly titled Superman: Legacy, opens in
theaters on July 11, 2025. The movie will be the first theatrical feature of
the DCU with James Gunn and Peter Safran at the helm of DC Studios, who bring
an all-encompassing vision to the forefront.
This exciting teaser comes a full 18
months after Gunn announced he'd be helming Superman, which has seen just about
every emotion there is to feel: anticipation, excitement, and the nagging
uncertainty that we've become quite accustomed to. But trust us, it has paid
off.
Feast your eyes on the latest
big-screen rendition of the world's very first comic book superhero, and try
telling us you aren't at least just a little over the moon. Over two full
minutes, we get a really nice flavor of what's to come both in terms of the
tone and style of this James Gunn Superman film with appearances from Lois
Lane, Lex Luthor, Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Mister Terrific, and Metamorpho. But
let's get real, there's only one scene stealer needed here, an adorable furry
companion-Kal-El's loyal white wonder dog Krypto saving his injured master from
falling. This heartwarming moment is inspired by Gunn's own adopted dog, Ozu.
We’re also treated to a touching
moment with Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, sharing an emotional scene
with Clark on the porch of the iconic Smallville farmhouse.
Corenswet stars in an ensemble cast,
which includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor,
Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as
Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Wendell Pierce as
Perry White, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Frank
Grillo as Rick Flagg Sr., Angela Spica as The Engineer, Milly Alcock as Kara
Zor-El, and Alan Tudyk in a role yet to be disclosed.
"It's not an origin
story," Safran told THR last year. "It focuses on Superman's
balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He's an icon that
represents truth, justice and the American way. He's an old-fashioned kind of
hero in a world that seems to have moved beyond that."
